About this objectA steel double hook ended instrument with a thick soft tipped rod hook at one end and a flattened sharp hook at the other. The steel has rounded ebony plates set to either side of the metal shaft which were rivetted with three metal pins that appear as decorative dots. The plates are thicker to the mid-section and taper down to each hook.
An instrument generally used during midwifery emergency surgery only. The steel is stamped with a maker's mark for "Frazer Glasgow". See also 1990:111 which has a slightly slimmer mid-section to the handle and a shorter sharp hook.
